FUNGUS

(plural _fungi_) ? One of the five kingdoms into which living things are categorized . The other kingdoms are Animal, Plant, Bacteria, and Protozoa. Fungi have distinct nuclei and include a variety of types, such as moulds, mildews, yeast, and mushrooms.


G/KG

G/kg – Grams per kilogram. An expression of dose used in oral and dermal toxicology testing to indicate the grams of substance dose per kilogram of animal body weight. see _kilogram_ or _kg_


GASTROENTERITIS

Inflammation of the intestines, usually as a result of bacterial infection. cp ?Escherichia coli?


GENERAL CONTRACTOR

This terminology refers to a contractor that offers a wide range of services, it is also used to refer to a builder. General as opposed to specialist.


GENERIC NAME

A non-proprietary name for a material.


GERMICIDE

A compound that kills disease-causing micro organisms when used in accordance with the manufacturer?s instructions.


GESSO

A plaster-like material that is shaped carved or moulded to provide a decorative raised design on picture frames, mirrors and mouldings.


GIARDIA

A highly infectious parasitic micro organism, often found in sewage that can cause chronic and severe intestinal disease in both adults and children.


GLULAM JOIST or BEAM

A framing material formed by layers of wood bound together by resins into a structural unit, used as an alternative to solid timber.


GLUTARALDEHYDE

An aldehyde-based sanitizing agent (C5H8O2) used in leather tanning, food processing and in fabric sanitizing or disinfecting (in concentrations of 2% or greater; i.e., bactericide, fungicide, virucide, and sporicide)
