WAINSCOT

A decorative or protective facing, such as wood panelling, applied to the lower portion of an interior partition or wall; also the area to which such panelling is customarily applied.


WAIVER

An instrument or action which intentionally relinquishes a right, claim, or privilege.


WALLBOARD

Flat wood or gypsum composition sheeting used to provide a smooth, finished surface on wall frames. See _gypsum_


WARP

Any variation from a straight line. In wood products (lumber, sheeting, plywood, furniture), warping usually resulting from non-uniform absorption of moisture.


WARRANTY

A written statement by a manufacturer, contractor or service firm providing certain assurances to the purchaser regarding the future performance of a device, installation or service.


WASH

The sloping upper surface of a coping, sill or chimney cap, designed to carry off water; a technique used in water colours and other art works on paper.


WASTE WATER

The spent or used water from individual homes, a community, a farm or an industry that contains dissolved or suspended matter.


WATER BASE

A liquid in which water is the principle solvent; compatibility with water.


WATER DAMAGE

The destructive effects of water or moisture on buildings and personal property.
