Day 1 – Morning: Manual Handling Essentials
You will learn how poor manual handling impacts the moving and damage-management industry, along with the legislation that governs safe practice. The session builds your understanding of the spine, common causes of injury, and how to prevent them through correct lifting, moving, and carrying techniques. Through hands-on practice, you’ll handle real furniture, use manual-handling aids, and apply webbing to make loads lighter and safer. By the end of the morning, you will be confident in using best-practice, legally compliant techniques to work smarter—not harder.
Day 1 – Afternoon: Vehicle Loading & Transport Safety
This module strengthens your understanding of driver and employer responsibilities, including licence requirements, pre-use vehicle checks, and compliance with safety and enforcement regulations. You will explore Construction & Use rules along with PUWER and LOLER obligations, then learn how to achieve safe, balanced weight distribution. Practical vehicle-loading exercises with real furniture and equipment will develop your confidence in securing loads correctly and safely for transport.
Day 2 – Full Day: Professional Packing Skills
You will spend the full day learning professional packing techniques using industry-standard materials. The course covers how to select the right materials, pack cartons and fragile items safely, minimise damage, and follow best practices that ensure safe storage and transport. Through demonstrations and practical exercises with real items, you will gain the skills and confidence to pack efficiently, safely, and to recognised industry standards.
Delegate Requirements
All delegates must attend in full uniform and wear appropriate PPE, including safety footwear and a high-visibility vest.
Delegates without the required PPE will not be permitted to attend, and no refund will be issued.
