NUTRIENT

Any substance taken in by living things that promotes growth.


OBSOLESCENCE

A departure from current styling, design or performance as the result of age, use, or technological advance, incurring a loss in value compared to a new item of the same type.


OCCUPANTS (USERS)

Persons or company that are living or working in the building. May refer to the person or company that has the rental agreement


OCCUPIABLE SPACE

Any enclosed space inside the pressure boundary and intended for human activities, including but not limited to, all habitable spaces, toilets, closets, halls, storage and utility areas, and laundry areas.


ODOUR

A description of the smell of a substance. The sensations and mental images perceived by means of the olfactory organ in contact with particular gas phase substances.


ODOUR COUNTERACTANT

Any substance which mitigates a particular odour.


OIL BASE

A paint in which a drying oil is the vehicle for the pigment.


OILY-TYPE

A category of paint remover which is viscous and does not evaporate readily, requiring flushing with more volatile solvents.


OLFACTORY

Relating to the sense of smell. The olfactory nerve endings (epithelium), located in the nasal cavity, sense and transmit the sensation of smell to the olfactory lobe, located at the base of the frontal lobe of the brain.


ON LOCATION/ ON SITE

The accomplishment of work effort at a remote job site belonging to a client, as opposed to in-plant work accomplished at a company facility; e.g., on-location cleaning or on-location drying versus in-plant cleaning or drying.
