  • About your membership

  • Members will adhere to the following core principles and standards of professional practice:

    A spirit of commitment throughout the BDMA to maintain and enhance high standards across the damage management industry – by fostering good practice across the industry through initiating and contributing to the sharing of knowledge and discussion of professional issues with members of the BDMA community.
    Equity and diversity – design, delivery and promotion of accessible services to meet the needs of all, irrespective of their age, disability, gender identity, race (including colour, nationality and ethnic or national origin), political or religious beliefs, and sexual orientation.
    Professionalism – adherence to legislation and commitment to best practice, acting in the best interest of clients and service users.
    Impartiality – embedding the principle of impartiality into the design and delivery of damage management and restoration services so that service users receive the best possible outcomes. Any conflicts of interest will be declared as soon as they are known.
    Confidentiality – the protection of client confidentiality and the right to privacy, acting in accordance with laws that govern the sharing of data, including personal information.
    Integrity – acting with trustworthiness and transparency in the provision of services, the management of expectations and the honouring of promises and arrangements.


    Our expectations of our members
    All members are expected to display the highest standards of professionalism and a commitment to our Code of Ethics, always giving due care and consideration to others.

    Maintaining Professional Standards
    All members are bound by the Code of Ethics. Where members fail to live up to the standards expected of them, the BDMA may investigate and present evidence to the Board of Directors. If the Board of Directors, at their discretion, determines that a member has breached the Code of Ethics, the individual or organisation’s membership or accreditation may be revoked.

  • NOTE: You will need to be registered and allocated the BDMA training & reference module before sitting the Technician examination. There is a £50 (+VAT) cost for the training module.

  • Cancellation Policy
    If you have booked onto one of our training courses, you may cancel your booking under the terms in this Cancellation Policy:
    1) Cancellations received 14 working days or more prior to the training date will be refunded. If the payment has not yet been made, the invoice will be voided.
    2) Cancellations received between 7-14 working days prior to the training date will receive a 50% refund.
    3) No refunds will be issued for cancellations made less than 7 days before the training date.
    4) No refunds will be issued for no-shows.

    If you are unable to attend the training, you may:
    1) Transfer the booking to an alternative person at your organisation. You should contact info@bdma.org.uk no later than 7 working days prior to the training date to do so.
    2) Move your booking to a later training date. You should contact info@bdma.org.uk no later than 14 working days prior to the training date to do so.
    3) Any request to transfer to another date will be subject to our approval and availability of spaces.
    4) We understand that unforeseen situations, such as illness, bereavement, emergencies, or surge events, may prevent you from attending. At our discretion we may waive or reduce cancellation fees based on the circumstances or offer alternative dates to reschedule without additional charges.
    5) The BDMA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the course at any time. In these circumstances, you will be offered a full refund of the price paid for the course.
  • NOTE: Candidates must be registered on the CPD scheme and accumulate a specified number of CPD Points before sitting the Technician examination. There is an initial £15 (+VAT) administration fee for CPD registration and an annual fee upon accreditation.
